November's Meeting

I'm glad everyone was able to make it for our last meeting and hopefully we can keep that good momentum going. We'll also be welcoming a couple of new members! The book for discussion is The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank and we'll be doing a festive craft (one that you haven't done before, I promise!). You will also receive our book for next month, The Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum. I don't know about you, but I will really appreciate a happy ending after the last book.

October's Meeting

Our next meeting is tomorrow night. It's too bad that some of you weren't able to make it last month, so hopefully you'll be able to make it out tomorrow. We'll be discussing Holes by Louis Sachar and making a fun book-o'-lantern craft, just in time for Halloween! You will also receive our book for next month, The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank, coming to us by special request. We still have spaces open in the book club, so if you know of anyone who'd be interested it's not too late for them to join.

Welcome Back!

Registration starts today for this year's book club! Since this will be my first year running the book club (or any book club, for that matter!), I look forward to meeting all of the new and returning members at our first meeting on September 28th. I hope that we will have a lot of fun sharing some great books and crafts. Please come prepared to talk about your favourite books and recent reads at our first meeting, which will have the added bonus of helping me pick books that you will enjoy for us to read throughout the year.

It was wonderful seeing some of you last night - I'm sorry we missed the rest of you!

If you still have your books from this past month, please return them to your closest branch as soon as possible.

Book Club will resume in the fall, run by the new Branch Librarian (I will be moving to the Central Branch for a year to try my hand at something new). Keep your eyes on the website for more information about registration and meeting dates.

In the mean time, have a great summer - I'll miss our wonderful discussions and crafting times!

Last Meeting Tomorrow Night!

Sad, but true, it's almost time for our last meeting of this school year!

Tomorrow night we will have our discussion on Anne of Green Gables as well as try our hand at a recycled craft.

May's Meeting

Hi everyone:

It was so good to have almost everyone together at our meeting last week!

If you missed the meeting, our last book for the year will be Anne of Green Gables by L. M. Montgomery. I have copies of the book on my desk if you still need one - just ask the staff!

Our next (last!) meeting will be on May 18th from 7:30-8:30... I'll try to come up with a fun activity to finish off our time together. If you have any thoughts, let me know!

Book Club tomorrow night!

Hi everyone:

Hope you all had a marvelous March Break, and managed to squeeze reading The Breadwinner into your busy schedules!

We will be meeting tomorrow night at the regular time (7:30 pm) to talk about this book and complete a little activity.

I'll also be handing out our book for April's meeting - Blubber by Judy Blume. Believe it or not, I've never actually read any Judy Blume books, so this will be new for me, if not for some of you!

It's been a while

Yikes! How time flies!

A few of you missed our meeting last week, but not to worry, copies of our new book are on my desk at the library. We will be reading "The Breadwinner". Mom's already finished it and she loved it!

I've also picked the last two books that we will be reading this year if you want to read ahead. The titles are in the column on the right hand side of this page.
